Energy polydisperse 2d Lennard–Jones fluid in the presence of flow field

The behaviour of energy polydisperse 2d Lennard–Jones fluid (in thin-film geometry) is studied subjected to linear flow field using molecular dynamics simulations. By considering neutral and selective substrates, we systematically explore the effect on particle ordering as well response system. It shown that density profile, spatial organisation local identity in film are affected. Furthermore, observe flow-induced melting associated with a decrease effective interaction parameter, $$\langle \epsilon _i^\mathrm{eff} \rangle $$ , which characterises neighbourhood ordering. In terms macroscopic response, systems exhibit both shear thinning thickening, exponent decreases increasing temperature eventually attains Netwonian fluid-like at sufficiently high temperature. onset governed by time scale structural relaxation strongly attractive particles. found qualitative one-component LJ-fluid substrates similar many respects, while one substrate shows differences. case system, having different types significantly manifested profile near interface, parameter viscosity.
